Rebelle Rally, and how you can help.

Eight days, tons of kilometers, a map & compass, two gals and their trusty 4Runner…

During a typical day of the Rebelle Rally we will wake before the sun comes out to prepare for the day, getting our gear, Hank the 4Runner (@myt4rHank) and ourselves ready for the grueling task of searching for checkpoints. Some checkpoints are marked and mandatory to find in order to progress in the Rally. Some checkpoints are point-based, but not required. These checkpoint are more challenging to find due to terrain and the possibility of difficult-to-find location markings or no location markings at all.

How do we find something that isn’t marked, you ask?

Well that is where all of the training we’re doing comes into play. We have to find precise coordinates on a map, figure out a route based on the topographical characteristics of said map, get the headings and distances we will travel, marking them so when we are in Hank we know where we’re going. Then using the map, compasses and other helpful navigating tools, we set off to find the many checkpoints we have plotted at basecamp.

At the end of the day, we have to turn Hank over to the Rally impound (we aren’t allowed to touch the 4runner again until impound opens the next day). Then we set up camp, eat, plan for the next day, fix/ready/repair equipment for the next day and try to wind down before getting whatever sleep we can. And then, we wake up and do it all over again. And this isn’t even mentioning all of the different challenges that may arise during the Rally, such as getting lost, flat tires, getting stuck, mechanical problems, and of course, using the restroom…haha.

Embark, with us, on this extraordinary journey as Nat (Busturr), Jenn (Squirrel), and their third teammate, Hank the 4Runner compete in the Rebelle Rally – an 8 day navigation-based challenge that transcends the ordinary, in which there are only women competitors. Picture the thrill of navigating rugged terrain, relying solely on maps, compasses, plotters, and roadbooks, leaving electronic devices behind. This isn't just a rally; it's a testament to the resilience of traditional navigation methods.

A donation, whether big or small, becomes a lifeline for essentials – entry fees, compliant tracking equipment, maintenance, fuel, food, and travel expenses. It's about investing in a dream that transcends the rally itself. Join us on this unique adventure, follow our story on social media, and be the heartbeat behind our success. Your contribution isn't just financial; it's a pledge to empower, to break away from the norm, and to be part of a collective journey. Your support isn't just about the rally; it's about making dreams come true, one compass point at a time.

Follow us on social media to stay updated on our journey! And don't forget to watch and track our progress during the Rebelle Rally in October 2024.
